Sport BC and North Shore Sport Awards Honours Two Pickleball BC (PBC) Members

On March 5, 2026, two prestigious awards were bestowed upon members of the pickleball community. PBC President David Snell received the Sport BC Presidents’ Award at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, while Maggie Murch was recognized as a Finalist Master Athlete in Pickleball at the 24th Annual North Shore Sport Awards ceremony in North Vancouver.

About the Sport BC Presidents’ Award:

Sport BC’s award program recognizes exceptional volunteers whose “dedication, energy, and commitment make a meaningful impact on their organization and the athletes” they support. Each member organization may nominate one volunteer annually.

David Snell’s Accomplishments:

  • Led the Activating Youth Pickleball in BC (AYPBC) initiative across seven regions
  • Secured initial viaSport Grant in 2024, resulting in 11,000 youth introductions (Phase 1)
  • Grew PBCA membership to 21,500+ active players
  • Supported BC’s inaugural Provincial Team win at the 2025 Canadian National Championships

Maggie Murch’s Accomplishments:

  • Bronze Medalist, Team Canada at 2025 Pickleball World Cup (Fort Lauderdale)
  • Gold Medalist, BC Provincial Team Competition (2025 Canadian Nationals)
  • Gold Medalist, 5.0 Mixed Doubles (2025 BC Provincial Championships)
  • Professional Player at Hollyburn Country Club
