Coaching Accreditation & Clinics
Coaching Accreditation
The focus for player, coach, and officials development centers on building a more consistent and aligned system across British Columbia. This includes standardizing a provincial coaching pathway that aligns with the Pickleball Canada Organization’s (“PCO”) National Program and the Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model, ensuring that coaches and athletes follow a clear, structured progression.
In addition, efforts will strengthen competition and officiating development by hosting an annual Provincial Championship as a key qualifier for National Championships and Provincial Team selection. A standardized officials training program will be introduced through regional and provincial clinics, with local, regional, and provincial tournaments serving as practical environments for training, mentoring, and advancing officials.
Coaching, Instruction, and Learn-to-Play Initiatives
Pickleball BC continued to support instruction and coaching initiatives designed to grow the game responsibly. Learn-to-play programs and instructional opportunities remain critical to welcoming new players and supporting long-term engagement.
Key themes from 2025 included:
• NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) certification PCO Task Force participation to review 2026/2027 programs
• Emphasis on safe, inclusive, and positive instruction environments
• Collaboration with clubs to promote development opportunities
• Recognition of the important role instructors play at the community level
The objective is to improve and expand standardized training, certification, and development opportunities province wide.
