BC Provincial Team
The 2026 BC Provincial Championships, the 2026 Canadian National Championships, and the evolving Provincial Team Competition (“PTC”) are all inter-related.
The BC Championships will be held at The Nest in Tsawwassen, a new large-scale indoor facility, featuring multiple divisions across skill levels (3.0 to Open) and age categories, along with eligibility requirements for BC residents and members. The event will also include provincial team components and aims to provide a high-quality competitive experience while supporting athlete development within the province.
The provincial team components also highlight the connection to the 2026 Pickleball Canada National Championships in Ontario, where the PTC will play an expanded role in the national athlete pathway. Building on Team BC’s gold medal performance at the inaugural 2025 competition, the province will enter 2026 as defending champions, with a stronger focus on preparation, selection, and performance as the PTC becomes an important tool for identifying athletes for national development programs and future international competition.
As a recap, the 2025 Team BC won gold at the inaugural PTC held during the 2025 Pickleball Canada National Championships in Winnipeg. Competing against five other provinces, BC led the point-based round robin and advanced to the finals, ultimately securing first place ahead of Ontario (silver) and Manitoba (bronze).
Also, Team BC was formed through a provincial selection process led by Pickleball BC, with 47 top-rated players applying and a final roster of 16 players and 8 alternates chosen based on performance and criteria. Despite limited preparation time, the team demonstrated strong chemistry and performance, highlighting the success of the program and setting the stage for future development as defending champions heading into 2026.
