Pickleball BC Association’s (PBCA) President David Snell Receives Sport BC Presidents’ Award

David Snell, head of the Pickleball BC Association, has been honored with the 2026 Sport BC Presidents’ Award, the province’s most prestigious volunteer recognition in athletics.

According to Sport BC, this award celebrates those who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their sports organizations and communities. “Each member organization may nominate one volunteer per year, highlighting the incredible contributions of those who embody the spirit of volunteerism in BC sport.”

David Snell’s Key Accomplishments:

  • Spearheaded the Activating Youth Pickleball in BC initiative across 7 regions, introducing the sport to approximately 11,000 elementary students in Phase 1
  • Grew membership to over 21,500 active players—second only to Ontario
  • Supported creation of BC’s inaugural provincial team, which captured gold at the 2025 Canadian National Championships
  • Organized strategic planning sessions resulting in updated 2026 objectives
  • Served as organizational spokesperson for media appearances and events
  • Oversaw newsletter redesigns and upcoming website launch
