Outdoor pickleball courts at Hollyburn Country Club

Outdoor pickleball courts at the Hollyburn Country Club (a PBCA Associated Partner Club).

Thursday, May 28, 2026, Vancouver, BC—PBCA’s early pickleball clubs that joined as Affiliated Clubs were non-profit and typically dedicated only to pickleball. However, due to today’s vast pickleball demand by communities, for-profit facilities are burgeoning. Through our new Associated Partner Program partnership, APOs gain recognition as part of PBCA’s 108+ Clubs and Associated Partners, access to Sanctioned tournaments, compliant coach and referee accreditation training, communications, conflict resolution resources and other PBCA membership benefits, while remaining responsible for their own facilities, members, and compliance with pickleball governance standards.

Benefits of Being a PBCA Associated Partner Organization (“APO”)

Here are PBCA’s Existing and New Associated Partner Organizations:

  • Hekate’s Pickleball Retreat, Haida Gwaii: “Game on! Our brand-new double indoor courts are open to the public—perfect for year-round play in K’il Kun/Sandspit, Haida Gwaii. Listed Below Are PBCA’s New Affiliated Clubs:

  • Bowen Island Pickleball Society (website TBA): “Pickleball is alive and well on Bowen Island. Gaining interest and enthusiasts every day. Like many communities across BC during the wet season indoor play happens in the gym at the local public school. For the summer months however, there are no outdoor public Pickleball courts. The Island has a few outdoor private courts, family homes or memberships required.” Joanne Mogridge, President, Bowen Island Pickleball Society
  • Gabriola Pickleball Club: “The Gabriola Pickleball Club is an enthusiastic recreational club that has been around for almost 30 years and currently has approximately 120 members of all ages. We are fortunate enough to be able to offer our members pickleball sessions 7 days a week. We have 3 outdoor pickleball courts that are used year round as the weather allows plus 2 more outdoor covered courts with lighting for evening play.” Kathleen Kane, President, Gabriola Pickleball Club
  • Prince Rupert Pickleball Society: Formed on December 2, 2025, the Society, who began with a small group of passionate players, now serve as its directors. In just a few short months, the Society has created numerous opportunities for local players of all skill levels. A major tournament held in April attracted over 100 participants from across the region, including players from Vancouver Island.

“The PBCA Board has embraced and extended our official partnerships to include multi-sport or pickleball-dedicated for-profit BC pickleball facilities. As the demand for our wonderful sport has outstripped what municipalities and private clubs can provide, new courts are being built to address the demands of our pickleball community, including for-profit facilities across British Columbia. This is a good development for our BC pickleball community and we embrace it.”, says PBCA President David Snell.
